I'm not sure about the exact dates of these shots, but they are clearly very recent since they show one or more of the following:
1) the whole hospital ordeal
2) her fuck-buddy Adnan
3) one of her nasty weaves

my things

My big boxes from Indianapolis are here. I had them shipped to Brazil a few days before I left, around mid-October, and it took almost three months for them to get here. They came by ship, and traveled all the way from the New Jersey Port to Sao Paulo. I'm finally reunited with all my things - my books, my prints, my TV, my Fieldcrest towels, my favorite dishes, my Pier 1 wine-holder... ahhhhh. As much as I love having my family around, I miss my old place, my colored walls and my friends. I miss my friends terribly; sometimes it comes to me like a punch to the gut. Puppy keeps smelling the boxes as if he knew they came from "home". Crazy how things happen, huh?

I watched "Juno" AND "Once" today. You should drop everything you're doing right now and go watch them in case you haven't yet.

I'm even in a great mood, and that should speak volumes about how awesome they are.

The 15th Amendment (1870) to the Constitution of the United States prohibits federal or state governments from infringing on a citizen's right to vote. "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude."

The 19th Amendment (1920) to the Constitution of the United States intended to extend the right to vote to women. "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex."

The Black Codes (1830 -1866) were laws passed on the state and local level mainly in the rural Southern states to restrict the civil rights and civil liberties of African Americans. The southern states provided freedmen (emancipated slaves) with limited second-class civil rights and no voting rights.

The Jim Crow laws (1876 and 1965) required that public schools, public places and public transportation have separate buildings, toilets, and restaurants for whites and blacks.

The American Library of Congress has a unbelievably amazing flickr set with beautiful color photographs that range from 1939 to 1944. The images were created by photographers working for the United States Farm Security Administration and later the Office of War Information.

Papers written with Georgia and Times New Roman (serifs) got As while those with Trebuchet (sans serif) got Bs.





"Times seems to be the norm, so it really doesn’t set off any subconcious triggers. Georgia is enough like Times to retain its academic feel, and is different enough to be something of a relief for the grader. Trebuchet seems to set off a negative trigger, maybe just based on the fact that it’s not as easy to read in print, maybe on the fact that it looks like something off a blog rather than an academic journal. This is one of the most interesting things I have seen in a while.

"Every few minutes, the system searches the world's newly posted blog entries for occurrences of the phrases "I feel" and "I am feeling". When it finds such a phrase, it records the full sentence, up to the period, and identifies the "feeling" expressed in that sentence. Because blogs are structured in largely standard ways, the age, gender, and geographical location of the author can often be extracted and saved along with the sentence, as can the local weather conditions at the time the sentence was written."



"Brooklyn-based artist Jonathan Harris' work celebrates the world's diversity even as it illustrates the universal concerns of its occupants. His computer programs scour the Internet for unfiltered content, which his beautiful interfaces then organize to create coherence from the chaos.
